Rusting Love

The artist has portrayed 'Rusty Love' in her use of colour as it resembles much like the orange brown in actual rust. The artist cleverly conceptualises the scene of a couple drifting away from each other when she replaces natural anatomy with a mechanical version. The concept is very expressionistic and well put metaphorically, this also creates a steam punk sort of style.

The artists background brush strokes seem vague and rough, which gives the impression of the texture of rust. The tone at times fades and some cross hatching has been used to create that rough metallic looking surface. I love the use of chiaroscuro around each character to make the painting more dramatic.

I also like very much how the artist has used lines on the characters faces especially under the eyes to depict the emotion of stress and neglect. The blackened eyes also help achieve this effect since thy seem to represent an evil presence or desire which is trying to overtake the characters; neglect or simply drifting apart (maybe even something else).

A beautiful composition, I cannot complain!
